I have been teaching private music lessons since 2019, with a focus on piano and oboe. I also bring experience supporting students with other instruments through my work as a school band educator.
I teach personalized music lessons that aim to develop technique and musicianship alongside confidence, creativity, discipline, resilience, and healthy practice habits that students can carry with them in and beyond music.
I hold a Bachelor of Music and a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. I also spent two years teaching junior high band, where I spent much of my time working on making music class meaningful beyond the classroom.
During that time, I organized concerts, hosted guest musicians, and coordinated trips with the understanding that growth occurs when students feel connected, challenged, supported, and proud of what they are creating. That role also meant introducing many students to an instrument for the very first time, and it is something I am able to do across all school band instruments.
As a performer, my background is in oboe and piano. I have over 12 years of oboe experience and have played principal oboe with the University of Alberta Symphonic Wind Ensemble, University of Alberta Symphony Orchestra, Edmonton Youth Orchestra, and River City Chamber Orchestra. I have also performed as a featured soloist with River City Chamber Orchestra and Wye String Ensemble, and was selected for an internship with the Edmonton Youth Orchestra.
Whether a student is just beginning, preparing for an audition, or part of their school band, I aim to meet students where they are and help them move forward with confidence.
“My aim is to help students develop their voice, not just their musical voice.”
